Wedding of Steph and Douglas

How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?

My parents stay in Haddington so mentioned when the shop opened. I started to see friends that had been and had a wonderful time in the boutique.

How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?

Perfect. I came just a couple of weeks after getting engaged because I was so excited to start trying on dresses. I had a rough idea of what I was looking for but I was happy to look at other options knowing that what I originally was looking for might not suit me when it’s on. Naydene helped find the most amazing dress that brought a tear to my eye. I was very lucky to have won my dress through the Scottish Wedding Directory. I went straight back and got the dress that I had already fallen in love with.

Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown.

I had a gorgeous mermaid dress with beading all over the body. It sparkled so beautifully in the light. It was the same style I was looking for, though I was hoping to get something a little different. I was looking to surprise everyone because I knew my family and friends would be expecting me in a mermaid gown, when I put it on, the tears came and nothing else quite compared to the one. Months after the wedding I still look at my dress, in love with it.

How did you meet?  Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?

We met through mutual friends at a Swedish House Mafia concert in Prague. Neither one of us was expecting it but we continued to see each other when we got back.

He got down on one knee on our 5 year anniversary at the place I grew up and favourite place. It was a chilly day in January but sunny and the beach was empty apart from us. As much as I had been asking, I was still surprised. I never saw it coming.

What was your inspiration for your wedding?  Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

We were going for a highland wedding with maroon and grey colours. Red has always been my go to colour and grey goes with everything. It’s very us.

What made you decide upon your chosen venue?

We were the first wedding to be held at the Dunalastair Hotel in Kinloch Rannoch. His family have had a time share in Rannoch for years and he has been visiting since he was a child. It will now forever be a special place for us.

The day was so magical. I still can’t believe it is over. There was a couple of issues but we still managed to glide through the day. We had planned an outside ceremony but unfortunately it rained all day despite the Friday being a beautiful day. I also somehow managed to dislocate my knee during the meal (thankfully it rectified itself).

Throughout the day I felt so loved and special. It was lovely to have all of our close friends and family there for us.

What was the most memorable moment?

I don’t think I could pick just one moment because it was such a jammed packed day. I think if I had to pick one it would be during the ceremony. We are saying our vows and I am physically unable to speak. I eventually managed to get the words out though my tears. I think that was the moment it all felt real.

Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?

Relax and enjoy yourself. Naydene and Hannah 100% know what they are talking about. It is okay to put your trust in their hands. You will not be disappointed.
