Wedding of Sarah and Daniel

How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?

My good friend Jackie Barr got her dress from Sophia Grace and not only was it beautiful, but her experience was fantastic.

I had done my research and saw that Sophia Grace stocked the designers that I believed would best suit my individual style.

How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?

Excellent. Naydene was so welcoming on my first visit and the rest of the team so helpful throughout.

What was refreshing about Sophia Grace was the lack of pressure, the range of gowns and the unlimited email assistance in the run up to my big day.

Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown

Admittedly, my gown wasn’t what I had envisaged when I first began looking. However, having seen the dress on Sophia Grace’s Instagram I was immediately drawn to it.

I wanted a timeless piece and this dress screamed old school Hollywood. I felt like Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor all rolled into one!

How did you meet?  Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?

I went to school with Daniel’s best friend (and eventual best man) and so we had friends in common.

My dream holiday location was Thailand. We went in 2017 and he proposed under the stars on Railay Beach in Krabi after a day of island hopping and snorkelling on our own private chartered boat! The boy did good!!

What was your inspiration for your wedding?  Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

I was surprisingly very relaxed and didn’t follow a particular theme.

Our wedding location was Dubrovnik so that really created a jaw dropping backdrop and it needed little else.

I chose greys for the bridesmaids, whites and pale pink roses for flowers and muted pale pink tones for stationary and décor.

What made you decide upon your chosen venue?

We love to travel. Dubrovnik was one of our favourite places and it really was a no brainier. It was unique and unforgettable for us and our friends and family.

Tell us about your wedding

Aside from it being the best day of my life, the wedding day complimented our own individual personalities and styles.

We were married in Sponza Palace in the Old town. This has been used in many a movie scene and most recently as a regular location in Game of Thrones. I walked down the aisle to ‘For the love of a Princess’ from Braveheart – brining a bit of Scotland to Croatia.

We, and all our guests then travelled to our reception venue by private boat. We sailed around the coast of Dubrovnik and travelled to the island of Kolocep to a private villa.

We ate, drank and danced all night with our nearest and dearest while the sun went down. It was truly magical.

What was the most memorable moment?

Seeing Daniel’s cheeky, smiley face as I walked down the aisle. It took away all my nerves and I relaxed, knowing I was about to marry the love of my life and best friend.

Also, my two best friends Gemma and Friday from school performed for us. They are both so talented, and Andrew went to the Royal Academy of Music in London. They sang one of my favourite songs – ‘All of me’ by John Legend.

There wasn’t a dry eye in Sponza’

Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?

Try not to stress and enjoy the planning process. A lot of brides feel under pressure for it all to be perfect, but remember it will and you have to trust in the process and enjoy every moment.
