Wedding of Mary-Ann and Callum

How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?

I found out about Sophia Grace Couture through Instagram. I was looking for 3D lace gowns and came across the Calla Blanche Coreena Gown and I fell in love. I knew you were the only store that sold this gown in Scotland so I just had to visit to try it on.

How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?

My experience was amazing. So calm, organised and helpful. The store itself is so classy and beautiful. Loads of stunning gowns from a range of designers. Ines was amazing. She was so cheerful and supportive. She knew I was coming to try on the Coreena gown and had it all out for me for my appointment. That was really exciting. Ines helped me choose different styles however it always came back to the first dress

Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown

This dress is my dream dress. I love the off the shoulder A Line style. Most importantly I love the 3D lace and the long train, plus the matching veil!! It was perfect for my cathedral wedding.

How did you meet?  Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?

My husband and I met in High School and ended up going through the same course at Glasgow University to become Primary Teachers. The proposal was meant to be in Portugal for my birthday in April 2020. However, covid hit and my husband and I ended up having to live with our parents and were apart for a very long time due to social distancing at the time. Callum FaceTimed me on my birthday and proposed and turned up to my house outside with the ring and champagne. It was really romantic and unusual. Not what he wanted but we made the most of a difficult situation.

What was your inspiration for your wedding?  Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

I always knew I wanted it to be travel themed. We went on a tour of Europe in July 2019 and we managed to visit 10 countries in 12 days. It was full on but amazing! So we decided to name every table after one of the places we visited and our cake and table plan all had the world map on it.

What made you decide upon your chosen venue?

Our venue was the easiest choice ever. It was the first and last venue we visited. We chose the Salerno Suite at Ingliston Country Club in Bishopton. It is stunning with a grand staircase with lots of gold features and items that were originally from the Savoy Hotel in London in the 1920s. It gives off a Great Gatsby Vibe which I loved.

Tell us about your wedding

Our wedding included a string trio who played during the ceremony and at the drinks reception which people really enjoyed. We also had a secret singer who dressed as a waiter and surprised guests during the dessert. It was really funny as my brother and sister in law completely fell for it and got out of their seats to help! I really enjoyed looking around the room during the meal and looking at all the people we loved in the same room.

Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?

My advice for future brides would be: try every style. You would be surprised at what shapes and styles suit you! Also, listen carefully to the girls at Sophia Grace Couture. They know what they're talking about. Listen to their advice.
