Wedding of Emma and John

How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?

Through friends who had visited and absolutely loved the experience.

How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?

Very relaxed, and a lot of fun! The boutique is stunning and as soon as you walk through the door, you feel like a bride! Hannah was so chilled out and lovely which is what I wanted from the experience, but she was also really helpful and understood my style really quickly.

Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown

My dress was called “Rossella” by Calla Blanche. I went in knowing I wanted something fun, fuss free, and I had to be able to dance in it! I spied the dress as soon as I walked in and felt amazing as soon as I put it on. I thought I'd go for something more simple but came out with a totally glam, backless dress and loved every minute in it!

How did you meet?  Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?

We met at T in the Park 2011! We were there separately with friends and met in the crowd in the Slam Tent. Our stories definitely differ, but we went from me being on his shoulders in the slam tent, to wandering around eating pizza and chips and gravy and talking nonsense until the early hours!

John proposed to me in a Yurt! It was winter, horrible weather and we were drinking red wine and playing cards and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Was so perfect.

What was your inspiration for your wedding?  Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

We wanted our wedding to be as relaxed as possible. The wedding was in a barn with a beautiful loch. We took TITP as our inspiration but still wanted it elegant and quite simple! Our table names were all tent names in beer bottles with a foliage runner down the tables. I am not very creative so my amazing friends helped with the signage. Our flowers all toned in with the sage green bridesmaids dresses and were a mixture of blush, greens and ivory.

Did Covid-19 Impact your wedding?

We did have to postpone our wedding a year, but we were so grateful it didn’t impact us on the day.

What made you decide upon your chosen venue?

I knew I wanted to get married near where I grew up in Dunkeld. The year we got engaged a new wedding venue popped up literally across the loch from my parents and it was the barn-style relaxed venue we were after. So it was a no brainer!

Tell us about your wedding

It was the most fun and happy day! The wine was flowing, the sun came out and everyone mingled so well. We had a humanist ceremony by the loch which was so personal with lots of laughs- my sister and best friend both did beautiful readings. We then moved up to the courtyard where we had canapes and fizz in the sun while we had ibiza style saxophone music! Then into the barn for cake cutting, hilarious speeches and our meal which was a hog roast. We had a first dance to disclosure and then a ceilidh! The night ended with pizza and whisky by the fire pit.

What was the most memorable moment?

Feeling like I was in Ibiza when the saxophone played - but being in a wedding dress, dancing with my new husband surrounded by all our favourites. My face was grinning the whole day, can’t beat it!
