Wedding of Sophie and Danny
How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?
I live quite close to the shop and so I had often passed it and thought it looked amazing – I knew I would love to look there for my dress when I got married one day. The window displays were always so beautiful! I also heard lots of good things from a few other brides who had got their dresses from Sophia Grace Couture and highly recommended it.
How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?
The minute you walk into the shop, it feels so special! The surroundings are absolutely gorgeous and the service you get is amazing. I wasn’t ever made to feel rushed and the personalised treatment that I received was really second to none. Naydene got to know my style instantly, just by having a chat and was able to give me really good advice. I felt the dresses that I tried on were truly the best ones in the shop for me. I also bought my veil and shoes from Sophia Grace Couture and I was given the same care and attention to detail with those too, I was really made to feel that every part of my final look mattered.
Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown.
I always knew that I wanted more of a fitted dress with a long train and buttons down the back! I tried on lots like this but also other styles to rule them out. However when I put on my Stella York gown, I knew it had everything that I had ever wanted in a dress. It was only the second or third dress that I tried on, but none of the others afterwards compared to it and that is when I knew that it was the one for me!
How did you meet? Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?
We met through mutual friends 9 years ago on my 19th birthday night out!
The proposal happened in Cyprus 2 years ago on a golf course within our hotel resort. I was taking a photograph of the sunset and turned round to him on one knee!
What was your inspiration for your wedding? Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?
We always wanted a classical feel to our wedding day and we didn’t want to bring in too much colour. Therefore, we kept it quite neutral with lots of white and ivory but with pops of dusky pink which was the colour of my bridesmaids dresses, there was lots of greenery in the floral arrangements which really stood out against the neutral décor.
What made you decide upon your chosen venue?
We really liked how Norton House Hotel had the feeling of getting married in a country house setting which we had always loved the idea of for our wedding day, but it was also really central and not too out of the way for our guests. The service we got from the wedding team there was also amazing from the start of the planning process to our wedding day itself.
Tell us about your wedding
It was the most incredible day from start to finish. The sun came out just as we got married, meaning we got lots of beautiful photographs in the grounds and we even managed a confetti run with no rain too! Everything went to plan on the day and we just loved having a big party with all our favourite people in one place!
What was the most memorable moment?
Every part of our day was amazing, but the ceremony was really special and personal to us. We wrote it all ourselves with the help of our amazing humanist Melanie Leckie and it was just perfect.
Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?
Always try on other dress styles, even if you have a set idea in your mind of the style of dress you want like I did. Trying on other styles really helped me to decide that the type of dress that I wanted was definitely the right one for me and I had no doubt in my mind afterwards.
