Wedding of Rebecca and Sean

How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?

Recommendation from friends and family.

How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?

I had the best bridal experience I could have asked for. Felt completely at ease from the moment I arrived after feeling extremely nervous. Everyone at the store was so lovely and the store is so beautiful. An amazing place to go and find your dress.

Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown

My dress was by designer White April - Tulle a-line with lace design at top with low sweetheart neckline and off shoulder tulle arm straps.

After going through every dress in the store, my mum, sister or I did not pick out my dress. I tried on around 3 or 4 dresses and Ines noticed what I liked and disliked from each and went and picked out my dress. At first on the hanger I thought it was a pretty dress but wasn’t blown away but thought I’ll try it on anyway. From the moment I walked out in the dress and looked in the mirror and burst into tears, I knew it was my dress. It was the opposite of what I thought I would choose but it was perfect.

How did you meet?  Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?

My husband and I met in 2011 when we were 18 on a night out in Edinburgh. We started dating and moved in together in 2015 and got engaged in August 2020. Sean proposed whilst we were on the NC500 trip around Scotland on a cliff at Sango Sands beach. After 9 years together it was the perfect proposal and I everything I could have wished for.

What was your inspiration for your wedding?  Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

There was no specific scheme in mind but I wanted to keep everything pretty simple and classic so colour palette for tables and decor was all gold and blush pinks; with my bouquet the same blush pinks/peaches/creams and my bridesmaids were navy. I loved how it all tied together and looked so beautiful!

Did Covid-19 Impact your wedding?

Fortunately not for us, we got engaged during COVID so we had 2 years before we got married, so thankfully our first date we booked remained as is.

What made you decide upon your chosen venue?

The Dalmahoy was the first venue we viewed, and my husband would have booked it there and then without viewing anymore but I just wanted to be sure. We viewed 2 more but after viewing those we knew instantly that The Dalmahoy was the one. We loved how it had all the lovely outdoor places for photographs, we loved the room size for all of our evening guests so it wasn’t too crowded, and we loved that it was a hotel venue so all our guests could stay over with us.

Tell us about your wedding

Our wedding was on 8th October 2022 at The Dalmahoy, Edinburgh. We had around 90 day guests and 160 evening guests. It was the perfect day and we wouldn’t change one thing. All of our vendors were incredible and would highly recommend every single one of them.

What was the most memorable moment?

The most memorable moment would absolutely be our sax player (Shades of Sax) that we had playing later at night. All our guests were blown away by how amazing he was and have been talking about him ever since. It definitely elevated the night that was already amazing down to our band (Los Perros)

Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?

My advice would be to try on every style of dress, even if it’s not what you have in mind as the dress I chose wasn’t what I originally thought I wanted.
